This is Huacatay Mint, or black mint, from Peru. We got the seeds two years ago, let some of it go to seed at the end of last year, and then ignored that area until August when I noticed we had a ton of this unusual spice thriving all by itself. It's got a great flavor when it's fresh. I think it's a bit different when it's dried. It's usually used for Ajo de Huacatay, a sauce that is put on tacos or fish.
