Black Locust

We were very lucky our farmer pointed out that we have skinny straight black locust trees growing all over our property that could be used for the farm. Black locust wood is wonderful for fence posts! It should last about 50 years in the ground before it rots. So, we cut a few of them and boom, voila, we have fence posts. Ok, it wasn't quite that instant, but it was faster than a truck can cross the country with loads of timber from somewhere else. I'm very happy to say, there were no trucking miles for these. And we now have really wonderful posts for our garden fences.
In our neighborhood, we have deer, rabbit and ground hogs and we are hoping the fence will keep them out of our vegetable rows.
