Clever: Fishing Line

The deer found the young green leaves of our thornless blackberry bushes we planted this May so we are trying to keep them out by stringing fishing line around the berry rows. In its first two weeks, it's working pretty well. We could build a deer fence around these but a) that's a good bit for work, and b) by next year they should be established and much less vulnerable to deer pressure. We don't expect them to produce berries this year. They are busy growing roots. Hopefully next year, and for many years after that, they will produce berries! #patience.
