Short diversion from farm blog for wildlife sighting:
This little turtle made a depression in the crushed stone walkway and caught my eye. His shell is a little larger than my hand. He walked a bit, then became still as I got close. We don't see many of these guys, but we know they are around. Their rarity make them more interesting to me.
I have seen them walk and while they don't look fast, when I look away, or walk away and return after a short bit, I'm always surprised at how fast they cover a distance. I heard about this in a childhood story but the lesson (slow and steady wins) really hits home every time I actually see one of these little guys.
