This cool gadget helps plant seeds. A little wheel in the black box turns as you push this along your row and it let's a few seeds each rotation drop into the rut it created with the little blade between the wheels and after the seeds drop, the chain covers them with soil it drags over, and then the back wheel pushes it all down a bit. That's a lot of seeds planted quick and a lot of back bending not done!
We used it to plant our cover crop a few weeks ago and the seeds took better than where we scattered seed by hand (we tried the throw handfuls everywhere approach). Ok, we also did a few other beneficial things, like mixing the seed with soil before planting it, wetting it twice, and covering the area, so it's a completely unfair comparison, but we still like this little gadget!
